Press Release
Farmers’ Market comes to Chilliwack Downtown June 13, 2014

Starting on June 21, local farmers and vendors will bring their fresh fare downtown for an exciting new series of farmers’ markets as part of the revitalization efforts for the area.

The Farmers’ Market will start out relatively small with around eight to ten vendors and will take place in the parking lot by the new green space on Five Corners every Saturday from June 21 until mid-October 2014 between the hours of 9am to 2pm.

“We are so pleased to welcome a new farmers’ market to our downtown as part of our multifaceted revitalization plan,” said Mayor Sharon Gaetz, “We would like to thank the Downtown Chilliwack Business Improvement Association for its assistance in getting this market going.”

“We’re very excited about the start of the farmers’ market and feel that Five Corners is the perfect location for this venture,” said Barbara Kemp, President of the Downtown Chilliwack BIA. “The theme for the market is ‘make it, bake it, grow it’ and we can’t wait to see all the unique goodies that will be available.”

The initial market will be comprised of many vendors who were previously at Minter Gardens. Organizers plan to bring in a couple food trucks each week and hope to have an entertainer at all the markets.

Local vendors that are interested in joining the farmers’ market are encouraged to contact the market manager, Lisa Peach at [email protected] or 604-799-4877. More information is also available at http://www.downtownchilliwack.com/.
