Story Time & Art Class. Ages: 3-6. Time: 10-11am. Thurs. Nov. 6 - Dec 18. Every Thursday morning we will choose a popular children’s book which will be the inspiration of our art/craft projects for the class. Following all the artsy fun we will finish our literary adventure with a reading of the featured story. Caregivers can enjoy some free time, or stay and join in. Ages 6-11+ years, 6:00-7:00 pm, $48. Join Coach Codie of the Chilliwack Sports Academy for 8 fun-filled sessions of SPORTS, SPORTS, SPORTS! Each session will feature a different sport including floor hockey, basketball & soccer to enhance your skills and ability. Kids report that sessions with Coach Codie are 100% AWESOME! Ages 6-8 years, 3:15-4:00 pm, $60. The world of dance and movement awaits in this dance class led by Jody! Jody will share her love of modern dance, ballet, and salsa moves created just for kids! Join us for some FUN! No previous dance experience is necessary!

Ages 3-5 years, 2:30-3:15 pm, $60. Does your child wish to try Ballet or loves to twirl around the house? Help them to explore the world of dance and movement in this class designed for young children!

Ages 9-12 years, 4:00-4:45 pm, $60. This class is designed for tweens wishing to explore the world of hiphop, salsa, modern dance and classical ballet! No previous dance necessary! Join Jody for these FUN sessions!

6:30-8:00 pm, $90. Yoga creates an opportunity to consciously slow down and concentrate on movement while being aware of our bodies. Join Yoga instructor Dee as she leads the group through a series of poses to create peace and balance in your life. Each session will end with a guided meditation for relaxation to calm your mind and melt away stress. Class is suitable for all levels of practice.

Ages 7-11+ years, 4:00-5:00 pm, $45. From inspiration to creation...Create wonderful handmade cards for the Christmas Holidays. Classes will cover the basics of card making including: stamping, embossing, decorative borders, etc. All supplies are included. Children will make 4 cards per class = 16 cards for the session. Kids can see examples of cards they will be making posted on the PHECSA bulletin board!

From November 12 to December 10, bring in a non-perishable item to any FVRL library and FVRL will deduct $2 from your library fines.* Items collected will be donated to the local food bank. *Up to $30 of fines may be deducted per library account during this promotion. Billed items and administrative fees are not eligible to be deducted.

Kinsella, author of Butterfly Winter (2011), Magic Time (1998), If Wishes Were Horses (1996), The Winter Helen Dropped By (1994), Box Socials (1991), The Iowa Baseball Confederacy (1986), and Shoeless Joe (1982) - winner of the 1982 Canada First Novel Award and the Houghton Mifflin Literary Fellowship. This intimate morning of classical music will begin with complimentary coffee, tea, and delicious baked treats. Hosted by Sarah Hagen, the innovative and exciting young Vancouver pianist, the December 5 edition at 10:30 a.m. also features Dutch soprano Anne Grim, who has gained an internationally recognized reputation as a master in the performance of early music and the baroque repertoire. Anne has appeared in many orchestras and concert halls across Europe, and now teaches music at the University of Victoria, British Columbia. The Chilliwack Optimist Club is a service club focused on the children in our community. We assist in providing financial and practical support to youth and their families as well as promoting positive development in various areas such as sports, music, citizenship, bursaries, speech and essay contests and more. By providing hope and positive vision, Optimists and their supporters bring out the best in kids. The event will be at the Evergreen Hall on Friday, December 5th. Doors open at 6:30 pm. There will be a live band playing favourite classic rock tunes, a no host beer and wine cash bar and a 'beef on a bun' buffet along with great silent auction items and baskets filled with assorted donations from community sponsors and Optimist Club members. Ages 11+ years, 9:00am-5:00 pm, $45. Basic first aid and caregiving skills for youth 11–15 years old. Participants learn how to provide care to younger children in a variety of age groups, and how to prevent and respond to emergencies. Participants will receive a Canadian Red Cross Babysitting certificate upon completion.

Auld Lang Syne Dog Association presents 2 days of purebred all-breed dog shows on December 13 & 14. Ambassadors will be available to provide guided tours of the show and grooming areas and to answer all your questions. Handouts and literature will be available on all aspects of pet ownership. Admission & tours are provided free of charge, open to kids and adults of all ages.

A dynamic, theatrical Circus re-interpretation of Lewis Carroll’s Alice Through the Looking Glass comes to the Chilliwack Cultural Centre this December 14 at 2:00 p.m. The performance will leave audiences entertained, dazzled and amazed!
