Friday, Feb 1 & Saturday, Feb 2, 10 am – 4 pm The Friends of the Chilliwack Libraries Society will be holding their annual sale at the Sardis Library! All types of puzzles are available, stock up at very reasonable prices. Don’t forget to bring in your gently used puzzles to the Sardis Library starting Jan 2, 2019 to receive coupons for half price on selected puzzles (while supplies last). Please note this sale is cash only.

1:30 pm - 2:30 pm Have you ever wondered if you are looking at a planet or a star? What can I see with the naked eye, a set of binoculars? Should I get a telescope? How effective are star gazing Apps? Do I need any special equipment to view the sky in my backyard? The beauty and wonder of the night sky can be at your fingertips. Terry McComas will educate you and provide you with sound advice on how the beginner can begin observing the night sky right away. Open to all ages.

Are you a senior living with hearing loss? The Canadian Hard of Hearing Association - BC Chapter invites you to join us for our next gathering: Wednesday, February 6th from 10:30am-12pm at the CHHA-BC Resource Centre, #216-9181 Main Street, Chilliwack. This will be an opportunity to discuss hearing loss, effective communication, and available technology while learning from the experience of peers. Refreshments will be provided. Feb 6 & Feb 20, 7 pm – 8:30 pm All "uked" up and no place to jam? All levels of experience are welcome at our fun and relaxed ukulele circle. This program is in partnership with the Chilliwack Academy of Music. Space is limited. Please arrive early to avoid disappointment.

9:30 am - 10:30 am Relax, energize and rebuild strength in a playful and welcoming environment. Learn calming baby massage and stretch techniques with instructor from Inner Vision Yoga. Best suited for babies that are not yet mobile. Previous yoga experience not required. Age 6 weeks and up welcome. Registration is required, please drop by or call the Sardis Library at 604-858-5503 to register.

2 pm – 3 pm Join the Friends of the Chilliwack Libraries Society on the first Wednesday of every month. This volunteer organization supports the library through advocacy, fundraising and assistance with various projects and programs. New friends are always welcome!

12:45 pm - 1:45 pm Urban Safari Rescue Society educates kids and the public every day about animals, the natural world, the vital importance of biodiversity to our planet and ourselves. Urban Safari Rescue Society will amaze, engage, and educate about such critters as tarantulas, the importance of insects, snakes, lizards and more.

6:30 pm – 7:30 pm There will be a presentation and -weather permitting - we will go out and do some actual looking at the universe. Telescopes will be provided all you have to do is bring along your curiosity. Open to all ages.

9:30 am – 10:30 am Join Heidi Beckerleg, RN from Chilliwack Public Health Unit to find out how to recognize signs of when you need help to cope, to have hope that you CAN cope, and tips to help you realize what a wonderful mom you really are.

Canada Revenue Agency will be presenting at our upcoming session on topics such as Disability Tax Credit, Canada Caregiver Credits and Scams. Service Canada will talk about CPP, OAS, GIS Allowances, tips about Pension Sharing, what income effects GIS, SAFER and HAFI Grants. Learn how to use Benefit finder and the OAS toolkit. 9:30 am – 10:30 am Join in an interactive conversation with lactation consultant Lana Hergott, Perinatal Support and Family Resource Program Practitioner - Outreach. Whether your baby is breastfed, bottle fed or weaning, come share tips, successes and challenges in a supportive environment.

10:30 am – 12 pm Share ideas, learn new tips and tricks, solve research roadblocks, and learn the history of the area and era you are researching. The Genealogy Group welcomes new members.

11 am – 1 pm Macrame is not just for the 70’s! This textile technique has been around since the 13th century! Join Lindsay of Forage and Lace as she teaches her modern take on the art of macramé and create your own plant hanger. This workshop is designed for those 12 years of age and older. Registration Required, space is limited.

10 am – 11:30 am This hands-on event will teach parents/caregivers ways to play with your baby or toddler and encourage early literacy at the same time. Come to play and go away with ideas to try at home. This event is best suited for babies and toddlers 2 years old and younger with a parent or caregiver.
