This is the 68th annual Chilliwack Lions Club Music & Dance Festival

The festival begins with all genres of dance, starting with Ballet following the dance there is piano, strings, vocal, choral and woodwind and brass competition. The band competiti n is held at G.W. Graham school. Programs will be available at the start of festival, in the lobby of the Cultural Centre.

Acrylic Adventures Tuesdays Feb 10 - March 3, 3:30-5:00. Ages 7-12. Instructor and artist Pat Gerlach will challenge you to explore the fun and adventurous side of acrylic paint. During this class you will discover tools other than brushes to apply and manipulate acrylic paint on canvas. You will also learn how to build texture and depth by adding different materials and mediums to the paint. This class will change your acrylic painting tactics forever. Cost: $59.

A spectacular night of fine art and entertainment is just around the corner as the Chilliwack Community Arts Council presents "An Affair of the Arts". This special fundraising event takes place on Saturday, March 14 at 7:00 pm. All proceeds raised will go directly towards our children’s arts programming and will help to provide art supplies, equipment and classes for inspiring young artists in our community. The evening will feature an engaging live auction experience with auctioneer Kevin Gibson, a “super silent” auction, live music entertainment from the popular Curbside Trad Jazz Band, a delicious array of hors d’oeuvres provided by chef Mike Slanzi and his new Curly Kale Catering, as well as a no-host bar. Auction pieces include: art, pottery, crystalware, jewelry, and a wide variety of gifts generously donated by many local businesses. From Vancouver Canucks tickets to a grand wine basket, there truly is a wonderful assortment to be found. The inspiration for the event stems from the donation of some exceptional items from beloved artist Zona Wale’s estate. Items to be auctioned off from this collection include some of Zona’s treasured art that she painted, as well as pieces she acquired on her world travels. The collection was generously donated by her family in the hope of raising funds for the Chilliwack Community Arts Council, of which Zona was a long-time member and friend. A heart-felt thank you goes out to Zona and her family for being such wonderful supporters of the arts in Chilliwack. Plasticine Canvas Art. Monday, March 23. 10 - 11:30 am. Ages 7-12. Inspired by the work of Barbara Reid, create a unique image sculpting plasticine. Using a canvas base, instructor Steph Brubaker will guide students to build and sculpt 3D imagery. Cost: $19.

7:00 pm - 8:30 pm. Have you admired the colorful and intricately painted Ukranian Eggs, also known as Pysanky? The decorations on the eggs - stars, lines, flowers - are traditional symbols with specific meanings. Susan Turner, a Pysanky enthusiast and artist, explains the art and history of this ancient craft and showcases some of her own creations.

Art on the Wild Side. Tuesday, March 24. 1:00 - 3:00 pm. Ages 7-12. Artist Pat Gerlach will demonstrate tips and tricks to show you how simple it is to capture wildlife on canvas in this drawing and painting class. Cost $19.

The Everything Box. Wed. March 25. 10 am - 12 pm. Ages 7-12. Paint a special box to keep your treasures and keep sakes safe in this creative acrylic painting class with artist Cathy Angus-Healey. Cost: $ 25.

Aboriginal Style Dot Painting Friday Mar 27 10-12. Ages 7-12. Let artist Pat Gerlach guide you in painting a colourful animal image on canvas in the style of Australian indigenous dot painting in this creative and fun class. Cost $19.

The Knights of Columbus will be putting on a Meat Draw to help support the programs and services that the Cerebral Palsy Association of BC provides to over 10,000 people living with CP in our province. When: March. 27th Where: Friendly Mikes Pub, 2847 Young Road, Chilliwack Time: 5:30 - 7 pm.

Drop in between 10 am and 4 pm for two days of nature exploration, hands on activities, crafts and special programs -all designed for kids. Free.

Oil Pastel Fun. Monday, March 30. 10 - 11:30 am. Ages 7-12. Learn some fun and interesting techniques using oil pastels and everyday household items with artist Steph Brubaker to add interest and uniqueness to your projects. Cost $19.

1:00 pm - 3:00 pm. Are you new to the community or newly retired? Are you a 60+ adult looking to connect with others in our community? Drop in and participate in our monthly library social. There will be coffee and treats, as well as great conversation and games! Guest speakers will be on hand from 2:30 to 3:00 pm to talk about various resources for seniors and caregivers.

2:00 pm - 3:00 pm. Enjoy a fun, educational, and interactive reptile presentation by Mike Hopcraft, The Reptile Guy. For almost 15 years, Mike has been saving countless reptiles, amphibians and arachnids, and taken in everything from small frogs and scorpions to caiman, alligators and even a lemur! The Reptile Guy provides a fun and safe way to enjoy and learn about exotic animals. Space is limited. Arrive early to avoid disappointment.

Easter Egg Dyeing Workshop. Tuesday, March 31. 1 - 2:30 pm. Ages 7-12. Let instructor Steph Brubaker guide you through some different egg dyeing techniques; Marbling, spraying and doodling are just a few of the fun ways we will be decorating this year. Cost $ 15.
