You are invited to attend “Light & Shadow Photographic Exhibition”. Where: The Art Gallery, Chilliwack Cultural Center. When: April 2 to May 9, 2015, Noon to 5pm, Wednesday through Saturday. Meet the Artists Reception: Saturday, April 11; 1:00 to 3:00 pm. Light & Shadow is a group photographic exhibition featuring the works of Mary Askey, Linda Brown, Mary Chalmers Main, Zidonja Ganert, Delphine Gornall, Fred Gornall, Michael Hamilton-Clark, Jenna Hauck, Vickie Legere and Pat Tessier. The exhibition illustrates that the moments we capture and the stories we tell with our images are all contingent on the quality and nature of the light on our subject. Light creates mood: who’s spirits haven’t been lifted by a magnificent sunrise or sunset? Light reflects back on windows and water. Light casts shadows to create drama or a moment of whimsy. As photographic artists the camera is the tool we use to share the world as we see it! We look forward to seeing you there!

The Last Five Years chronicles the five year relationship of Cathy and Jamie. The show describes their first date, their wedding and their eventual break up. The Last Five Years uses a unique form of storytelling. Jamie tells his side of the story from the beginning of the relationship and goes forward. Meanwhile, Cathy starts at the end of the relationship and works backwards. I would like to create an interesting, visually appealing and functional sitting area in this space, for the month of August. This will be an all weather, safe option for people to sit and relax on while enjoying the atmosphere and when the time comes, to be utilized for festival. Advanced Cold Process Soap Making: Swirling with Color. For those who are already familiar with basic cold process soap making techniques join instructor Patti Lawn in this class to explore more soaping techniques including “in-the-pot” swirling. Science Lab: Taking science out of the lab and into the art studio from chemistry to biology to ecology, art and science explode. July 28 & 30: World Art: Take a journey around the world and learn about some of the different cultures through traditional folk art using different materials and art techniques. August 4 & 6: Animal Planet: Take a walk on the wild side of art in this themed class on all things furry, scaled and feathered. August 11 & 13: Enviro Art: Through household items, cardboard, recycled and found objects, you will create decorative masterpieces of all shapes and sizes that make your footprint on the world an artsy one. August 18 & 20: Renaissance Kids: Travel back in time and learn about frescos, fashion, architecture and mosaics in European history. August 25 & 27: Space Crafts: Join us for an artistic adventure where space and art collide. Cosmic dust and constellations are some ingredients that make space and art out of this world.

A perennial community favorite, Music and More is a free outdoor concert series featuring great performers from all over the Lower Mainland. Concerts will alternate weeks between Chilliwack and Sardis Libraries. Bring your own chair and blanket, at 6 pm food trucks and artisans will be on site with musical performance beginning at 7 pm. Stop by either library to pick up a schedule. Presented in partnership with City of Chilliwack, Chilliwack Libraries, Chilliwack Academy of Music and the Chilliwack Community Arts Council.

Help us find out as we dig for dinosaur bones, create our own fossils, and discover what’s really inside a dinosaur egg. Ages: 7-9 years. 10:30-11:30 am. $50.00. Sparkles encourages gymnasts to try new skills and refine those that they are already capable of preforming. Gymnasts take a focus on flexibility development, and agility training, and works to coordinate gymnastics movements with rhythmic gymnastics apparatus.

Ages: 5-7 years. 9:45-10:30 am. $50.00. This gymnastics class is designed just for energetic boys who always want to run and be upside down. Ninja Gym teaches fundamental gymnastics skills in a structured class, with a focus on agility, balance, and coordination.

Ages: 9-12 years, 6:30-8:00 pm. $90. Join Instructor Kay for some Good Clean Fun while learning the basics of kayaking. This program provides participants with knowledge of introductory strokes and kayaking techniques. Kayaks will be provided. Canning Tomatoes. Canning is a healthy and economical way to preserve summer’s bounty. Instructor Doreen Van Stolk will be outlining basic canning techniques. The Vision Tree Cruise-In was established by the Chilliwack Alliance Church Vision Tree Committee in 2014 as a means to link car show enthusiasts with a great charitable cause. In 2015, proceeds of the Vision Tree Cruise-In will fund the costs of local children attending summer camp in the Chilliwack community. Family fun and entertainment take place each year as many classic cars are displayed at the Show n’ Shine, followed by a car rally and roast pig dinner.
