Giant Artwork Brightens City in Partnership with Molson Coors June 10, 2022

Chilliwack, BC: Three, 33-foot high silos on the southeast corner of the Molson Coors Beverage Company (Molson Coors) Fraser Valley Brewery at 45620 Kerr Avenue have been wrapped with a design titled “Gifts of Nature” by local artist Silvana Kulyk. The artwork features various landscapes typical for the Fraser Valley: the left silo reveals farming scenery, the middle is a mountain with a flowing river, and the right showcases the abundance of forests in the valley.

Due to the silos’ highly visible location, the City worked with Molson Coors to facilitate this public art opportunity. The City’s public art call-out received 22 submissions, which were reviewed by the Chilliwack Public Art Advisory Committee. Based on a recommendation from the committee, City Council approved Silvana Kulyk’s mural submission on March 15, 2022. The Chilliwack Public Art Advisory Committee felt “Gifts of Nature” was vibrant, symmetrical, displayed motion and perspective, tells a story, and represents Chilliwack.

“The size and prominent location of this piece provides a powerful visual for people traveling along the highway, and anyone in the area,” said Councillor Sue Knott, Chair of the Public Art Advisory Committee. “I would like to thank Molson Coors for the use of their silos to display public art, and thank the artist for representing Chilliwack with this striking design that now brightens a part of our city.”

“Molson Coors has a long, proud history of supporting and uniting the communities in which we operate,” said David Hamel, General Manager at Molson Coors’ Fraser Valley Brewery. “We are pleased to support the City’s commitment to making spaces more vibrant and fostering civic pride with public art by providing our silos as a canvas for the artist to display a truly Chilliwack piece.”

To ensure the integrity of the working silos, “Gifts of Nature” was adhered to their exterior through a large-scale wrapping process. Information about the City of Chilliwack’s public art process can be found at chilliwack.com/publicart.
